My husband and I have decided that we are going to redecorate our bedroom area. We made a decision that it was time to take on our room. We have had the same bedroom furniture since we were wed. Our bedroom is the studio of our A-framed house.
It’s a giant space that has a bathroom, a dressing area and the main room. There also are French doors that lead out to a tiny deck that over looks the lake. The wall with the French doors had navy blue wall paper with burgundy flowers with dark green leaves. The side walls had a coordinating stripped wall paper and the loo and dressing room areas were paneled. The final effect was like living in a cavern. We commenced by ripping off the wallpaper and painting the walls a peaceful shade of green. This was a long process, but we liked the new bright look in the room. Next we went buying bedroom furniture.
I would have liked to have our SOHO office in this space as well so we wished to select pieces that wouldn’t take up a large amount of space.
We looked at many stores that carry bedroom furniture but we didn’t find anything that we were fond of better than the dressers and armoire that we already had. We went home and arranged the bedroom furniture that we already had. We probably did this to make room for a desk and shelving for the office space. The new agreement made the room look bigger.
We found a desk and matching shelving unit that complimented our bedroom furniture. We’ve found the color of paint can make a dramatic effect on the appearance of a room. Infrequently the less expensive cosmetic changes will have the biggest overall effect.
